Children are not required to attend school until they are six years old, and they may not be admitted before they are five except into a child parent centre.
Children between five and six years of age may be admitted to a Government school at such times as may be determined by the Minister.
Where possible the Reception children will be given the opportunity to attend the school for 2 or 3 sessions towards the end of term prior to starting school.
The Reception children, when first starting school, are not accustomed to the long day at school for five days a week and are often very tired by the end of the week.
For the 1st term after initial admission to school, children will only attend for four days per week - ie. not on Wednesdays.
